I bought this one and tossed my old traditional style plunger since all of our toilets are now HET. This plunger sealed the opening and unclogged the toilet. It is large and heavy and clumsy. I would not hesitate to buy this again over the cheap-o plungers I used to get. Pull up on the handle to draw the water in, make sure to press the cone head snugely into the drain hole,then push the handle down with some force and you can hear the power that it pushes the plugged toilet water down the drain! I had to force the base back together afraid I was going to break it. I sucked water up into the plunger. Country of origin - USA (made by disabled Vets) I did not have time to wait for the swan neck auger to break up whatever was downstream, nor did I want to use an old fashion plunger while wearing dress clothes. If you want a good plunger this is it! Clean up is easy, just draw clean water from the bowl to flush out the plunger. Handle and base is all plastic. I disconnected the drain plug from the lever inside the drain. And for the traditional use, this has the right shape to fit any toilet drain opening- round, oblong, and keyhole, so a win-win. This vinegar jug is a too-tight fit, but a bleach bottle looks just enough bigger to work great. Fast clog removal, that really works. Recommended! You draw some of the water up into the plunger and then and push the plunger which drives the water forcefully through the drain. With great power comes some risk of splash. Man, this thing conforms to the outlet, gets a great seal on the downstroke, and a great suck on the upstroke! But I had to try it. The Johnny Jolter PRO Power Toilet Plunger looks like it would fit much better than the usual plunger, but it fits in the hole to force water through. In my photo of the two, this one is convex at the bottom and the old one is concave. The idea is to draw up about 1 or 2 quarts of toilet bowl water into the "barrel" and then plunge the water through the small hole at the bottom,, presumably blasting through the obstruction.. I only got to try this out on older conventional water closets (round opening), but see no reason why it wouldn't seal as well on the newer shaped openings.
