Weve been begging to make cake pops for months now, so when mum finally caved in and purchased a Lakeland cake pop mould we held our breaths, and didnt quite dare to hope that the little round balls of sugary delight were destined for us!

Crumble the cake into a bowl or preferably into the bowl of a stand mixer (my favorite method for getting super smooth cake ball filling.).

Regular popsicle sticks are a bit too long to fit in the molds. We made them by hand (not as messy as you might think) instead of buying a mould (yeah, OK, Im a cheapskate) and added mini Smarties.

But if you are having issues with the cake balls staying together, then it might be worth experimenting with that or trying a different cake mix.

I like to share them within a few days but the cakesicles should keep at room temperature, if stored in an airtight container for 7-10 days.

After all they are jus the one mouthful! If your candy dries at room temperature it may streak.

Unlike making them by hand, cake pops with mold units are simple to make and turn out great so long as you know some tricks for making these beautiful treats. Immediately insert then remove a popsicle stick into the mold, to remove any white chocolate from that area.

So if you are content with black and white chocolate colours, then that shouldnt be an issue.
