By pressing my brush into a paper towel, Im removing some of the water . It has been a while since I've done any spraying, so I don't remember that I had to use any more air pressure or paint flow once it was thinned, it seemed to work just like most any other kind of paint that I have used. If you do a lot of masking for additional colors, the straight craft acrylic likely won't give you the bite you need, otherwise if applied and left to cure for 24-48 hours I find it does work well thinned with water or alcohol. I mainly just use it for buildings and scenery. I am going to paint the items black. Heres what I always have on hand (in addition to paint): This is what I use regularly, and I would say the only other thing you should make sure to have is a way to clean your brushes. This was a bit of an outlay, with enough Improver, Retarder, IPA & distilled water to make 40 Litres, at about 1/4 - 1/3 the price of the equivalent qty. its when its still a little tacky/rubbery that it lifts and tears. This was kind of expensive and sprayed on nicely but took a really long time to dry and stayed soft and rubbery for a really long time and would lift up with the frisket unless left until the next day. Do you no value the work you put into a build enought to break down and buy some dang model paint? Dont know why I didnt think of that before!

I haven't used (or even heard of till your post) Michaels Smart Craft Acrylics but I will pick some up on my next visit to Michaels. I wanna try this to cut down on some paint costs, but thought I'd check here to see if I'm wasting my time and creating a mess. You do not load the entire brush up to the metal part (know as the ferrule). Too, GAC200 also 'hardens' the paint film which helps if you have to sand painted areas.
